  1. Medium sized Pumpkin(Mathanga)     1    no.
  2. Medium sized Potato     9    nos.
  3. Green Chillies     6    nos.
  4. Asafoetida     1    pinch
  5. Mustard Seeds     1    tbsp
  6. Black gram dal     1½    tsp
  7. Lemon Juice     1½    tbsp
  8. Semolina     4    tbsp
  9. Ghee     2    tbsp
  10. Curry Leaves     ½    stalk
  11. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Wash and peel the pumpkin, cut into cubes and boil till sufficiently soft for about 15 minutes and keep aside.
  2. Boil peel and mash the potatoes .Add salt and lime juice.
  3. Heat 2 teaspoons of ghee in a frying pan,add mustard,black gram dal, a few curry leaves and the green chillies cut into pieces.
  4. After the spluttering stops,add mashed potatoes pumpkin and salt.
  5. Keep tawa on the fire and smear it with a little ghee.
  6. Make flat small round shaped cutlet of this mixture and cover with semolina.
  7. Shallow fry it in flat pan till cutlet gets golden brown color.
  8. Pumpkin cutlet are ready.Serve with tomato sauce.
