Ingredients: 

  1. Raw Rice(Pachari)     2    cup
  2. Dry Yeast     ½    tsp
  3. Sugar Powder     2    tbsp
  4. Cooked Rice     2    tbsp
  5. Coconut Milk     2    cup
  6. Water     ½    cup
  7. Oil     1    tsp
  8. Salt to taste     ½    tsp

Description:
 

  1. Wash and soak rice for 5-6 hours.
  2. Dissolve the yeast in some warm water.
  3. Grind the rice along with coconut milk and cooked rice thoroughly.
  4. Add the dissolved yeast,sugar and salt.Mix gently and leave to ferment for 6-8 hours.
  5. Pour some batter into the appa chatti(kadai/appam maker) and rotate the pan to get a thin layer of batter on the sides,with more batter in the middle.
  6. Keep it covered and cook in medium flame for about a minute.
  7. When cooked take the appam out with a spatula and it is ready to serve.
