  1. Rice Flakes(Aval)     1    cup
  2. Raw Rice(Pachari)     2    cup
  3. Yeast     ½    tsp
  4. Fenugreek Seeds(Uluva)     ½    tsp
  5. Oil     1    tsp
  6. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  7. Sugar     5    tsp


  1. Wash rice and rice flakes and soak in water along with fenugreek seeds and yeast for about 5 hrs.
  2. Grind all the ingredients finely and make it into a batter as that of dosa or slightly thicker.
  3. Add the salt, sugar mix it well. Allow it to ferment for about 7 - 8 hrs.
  4. Heat griddle and grease it with oil.
  5. Pour the batter and spread it slightly to make thick appams.
  6. Keep it covered and cook in medium flame for about a minute.
  7. Serve it hot.
