  1. Rava(Sooji)     1    cup
  2. Semiya     1    cup
  3. Sugar     1½    cup
  4. Water     3    cup
  5. Ghee     ½    cup
  6. Cocoa Powder     3    tsp
  7. Cashew Nuts     10    g
  8. Raisins (Unakka Munthiri)     10    g


  1. Roast rava and semiya separately till light brown.
  2. Take a kadai and add the boill in water.
  3. When it starts boiling, add the roasted semiya.
  4. When its half cooked, add rava and cocoa powder.
  5. Semiya takes more time to cook, hence adding it first.
  6. When both rava and semiya is cooked well and the water is fully absorbed, stir in the sugar.
  7. Continue cooking till the melts completely and the mixture comes together. Add half a tablespoon of ghee and give it a nice stir.
  8. Heat ghee in a pan, fried and add cashewnuts and raisins.
  9. Add to the cooked kesari stir it well.
  10. Coat a tray with some ghee and pour the kesari in the tray,spread two teaspoons of ghee and press surface down firmly.
  11. Cool and cut into squares or diamond pieces.
