  1. Rice Powder     2    cup
  2. Water     1    cup
  3. Salt     ½    tsp
  4. For Filling
    1. Carrot  grated    1    cup
    2. Coconut  grated    1    cup
    3. Sugar      1    cup
    4. Cardamom(Elakka) Powder      2    tsp
    5. Ghee      2    tsp
    6. Banana Leaf      4    pieces


  1. Heat water and salt in a vessel. When it boils well , slowly add the water into rice powder and make a soft dough.
  2. Dough is ready. Make little large size balls. Keep it aside.
  3. Heat ghee in a pan and add carrot and sugar.
  4. When water is fully absorbed from the mixture add coconut and cardamom powder.
  5. Cook 5 minutes and remove from fire.
  6. Flatten the dough on the banana leaf with hand and on the top.
  7. Fold the banana leaf with content and steam it in Iddly maker.
  8. Cook till both sides are well done and the leaf turn brownish.
  9. Serve with warm.
