  1. Lady's Finger     200    g
  2. Green Chillies     2    no.
  3. Tomato     100    g
  4. Chilli Powder     2    tsp
  5. Turmeric Powder     ½    tsp
  6. Garlic     4    cloves
  7. Tamarind     10    g
  8. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  9. For Seasoning
    1. Mustard Seeds      ¼    tsp
    2. Curry Leaves      1    stalks
    3. Oil      2    tsp


  1. Wash and cut the lady's fingers into thin, round pieces.
  2. Chop the tomatoes, onion and green chillies.Crush the garlic.Soak the tamarind in a little water and squeeze out juice.
  3. Heat the oil. Add the lady's fingers and onion. fry till lightly browned.
  4. add all the other ingredients except tamarind and mustard.fry for 2-3 minutes.
  5. Add the tamarind water and salt. Cook till the lady's fingers are done.
  6. Heat oil in pan and allow mustard seed to splutter.Add curry leves and fry for a minute.
  7. Add seasoning to the Vendakka Mulakittathu
