Simple Rasam

  1. Tomato cut in to 4 pieces    2    no.
  2. Tamarind Medium lemon sized ball    1    no.
  3. Pepper Powder     2    tsp
  4. Garlic     5    cloves
  5. Cumin Seeds     2    tsp
  6. Coriander Leaves -chopped    2    stalks
  7. Asafoetida Powder    ¼    tsp
  8. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  9. Turmeric Powder     ½    tsp
  10. Oil     1    tsp
  11. Curry Leaves     1    leaves


  1. Grind the cumin seeds, pepper and garlic grind it corsley keep it aside.
  2. Extract the pulp of tamarind by soaking it in a cup of hot water. Keep it aside.
  3. In a kadai put oil and let it heat.
  4. Now put some cumin seeds and put this pepper mixer in it and fry it nicely.
  5. Add the curry leaves, tomatoes and salt and fry nicely.
  6. Add termaric powder and asfoetida powder.
  7. Put the tamarind pulp and the coriander leaves.
  8. When the resam starts to boil switch of the stove.
  9. Serve rasam hot.
