  1. Milk     1    litre
  2. White Rice     ¼    cup
  3. Sugar     1    cup
  4. Cardamom(Elakka) Powder     ½    tsp
  5. Butter     1    tsp


  1. Boil the milk on low heat for 10-12 minutes and then add the rice.
  2. Cook on a low medium heat till done.
  3. Add the sugar and stir until it is dissolved.
  4. Then add cardamom powder and butter.
  5. Payasam is ready.
  6. Serve it hot or cold,enjoy.
