  1. Mathi(Sardine) -Cleaned and cut into medium pieces    ½    Kg
  2. Chilli Powder     2    tbsp
  3. Coriander Powder     1    tsp
  4. Turmeric Powder     ½    tsp
  5. Onion -chopped    1    no.
  6. Tomato -chopped    1    no.
  7. Tamarind Pulp    2    tbsp
  8. Ginger -chopped    2    tsp
  9. Green Chillies sliced    2    nos.
  10. Crushed Small Onion / Shallot     5    tsp
  11. Oil     1    tbsp
  12. Curry Leaves     2    stalks
  13. Coconut Oil     1    tbsp
  14. Water     1    cup


  1. Make a fine paste of chilly powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder by adding enough water.
  2. Crush the small onion and ginger. Keep it aside.
  3. In a Manchatti (Clay pot) heat some oil on low flame and spread it to all sides.
  4. Fry the onion,till golden brown.Add tomatoes ,green chillies and curry leaves.Stir it well till oil seperates.
  5. Add crushed small onion and ginger,masala paste,tamarind pulp and enough water.
  6. Allow it to boil. Add fish and salt in to it.
  7. Cook till the gravy thickens.Remove from fire and pour some coconut oil over the curry.
  8. Serve it hot with best combinations.
