  1. For the koftas
    1. Bread      6    pieces
    2. Cooked and minced Mutton      100    g
    3. Coriander Leaves      2    stalks
    4. Onion      1    no.
    5. Green Chillies      1    no.
    6. Ginger      1    piece
    7. Oil  for frying    1    cup
    8. Garam Masala  Powder    1    tsp
    9. Lime Juice      ½    tsp
    10. Salt  to taste    ½    tsp
  2. For the gravy
    1. Onion      1    no.
    2. Tomatoes      2    nos.
    3. Garlic      4    cloves
    4. Ginger      1    piece
    5. Green Chillies      2    nos.
    6. Coriander Powder      2    tsp
    7. Chilli Powder      ½    tsp
    8. Turmeric Powder      ½    tsp
    9. Garam Masala  Powder    ½    tsp
    10. Coriander Leaves      ½    cup
    11. Curd      ½    cup
    12. Lime Juice      ½    tsp
    13. Oil      3    tsp
    14. Water      1    cup


  1. Cook the mutton in a little water with salt till the water is absorbed.
  2. Chop onions, green chillies, ginger and coriander leaves.
  3. Heat 2 tsp oil.Saute onions, green chillies and ginger. When the onions are done add meat. Stir for a while.
  4. Add coriander leaves and remove from the fire.
  5. Sprinkle lime juice and garam masala powder and keep aside.
  6. Cut the crust from the bread.
  7. Soak the bread in the water and squeeze out the water. Knead in to a soft dough.
  8. Divide the dough in to 6 small balls.
  9. Divide the mince also in to 6 portions. Take one ball and form in to a cup shape.
  10. Fill up the cup with one portion of mince,close it to form a ball
  11. Make five more koftas thus. Heat oil and fry them golden brown and keep aside.
  12. To make the gravy, grind onion, green chillies, ginger and garlic separately.
  13. Grind the coriander powder, chilli powder and turmeric powder together to a smooth paste. Blanch the tomatoes and make a puree.
  14. Beat the curd. Heat oil. Add the ground onion, garlic, ginger and green chilli paste and fry for few seconds.
  15. Add the other ground ingredients and fry for few seconds more.
  16. Add tomato puree, salt, curd and one cup water. Simmer for a few seconds.
  17. Add the coriander leaves and garam masala powder. Remove from the fire.
  18. Place the fried koftas in a serving dish and pour the curry over them.
  19. Sprinkle over with lime juice and serve immediately.
  20. Serve it hot.
