  1. Cucumber -chopped fine    1½    cups
  2. Green Chillies sliced    5    nos.
  3. Grated Coconut     ¾    cup
  4. Mustard Seeds     1½    tsp
  5. Curd -beaten well     1½    cups
  6. For Seasoning
    1. Dry Red Chillies  cut into big pieces    2    nos.
    2. Mustard Seeds      1    tsp
    3. Curry Leaves      2    stalks
    4. Coconut Oil      1    tbsp


  1. Cook the cucumber with green chillies and salt by adding enough water.
  2. Grind the coconut to a fine paste.Add the crushed mustard seeds into it and mix it well.
  3. Add this mixture into the cooked cucumber and allow it to boil.
  4. Pour the curd and mix it well.Remove from fire and stir it occationally. Kitchadi ready.
  5. Heat oil in a wok, add mustard seeds allow it to splutter.
  6. Add dry chilly and curry leaves,fry it well.Pour over kichadi to season.Serve it hot or cool.
