Ingredients: 

  1. Wheat Flour (Atta)     2    cup
  2. Jaggery(Sarkkara) Powder    1    cup
  3. Small  Banana     4    nos.
  4. Crushed Cardamom Seeds (Elakka)     6    nos.
  5. Dry Ginger     1    pinch
  6. Salt     1    pinch
  7. Ghee     1    tsp
  8. Oil for frying    1    cup

Description:
 

  1. Mix powdered jaggery with 1/2 cup of water and bring to boil. When it dissolves completely switch off and allow to cool. In a blender make a paste of this jaggery water and banana.
  2. In a bowl add wheat flour, crushed cardamom, dry ginger powder salt and ghee and finally the banana jaggery paste.
  3. Use more water if needed and make a medium thick batter. Consistency should be similar to idly batter.
  4. Allow it to rest for four to five minutes.
  5. Meanwhile heat oil in a pan and now pour spoon full of batter in to the oil.
  6. Fry in medium low flame or the inside of the appam will not get cooked and the outside will get browned up quickly.
  7. Fry on both side till it become evenly brown.Drain in to paper towels.
  8. Serve with tea.
