  1. Tapioca(Kappa)     1½    Kg
  2. Grated Coconut     2    cup
  3. Cumin Seeds     1    tsp
  4. Salt to taste    ½    tsp


  1. Wash and peel the skin.
  2. Grate the tapioca and mix it with salt and keep aside for 10 minutes so that the water will drain.
  3. Strain and squeeze out the water completely from the tapioca.
  4. Add jeera mix thoroughly and set it for 5 minutes.
  5. Now add a firstful full of grated Coconut in the puttu maker and then add the two handfuls of grated tapioca till half then add another handful of coconut. Repeat till you reach the top.
  6. Close the lid and steam for 6-7 minutes or until the steam passes from the top of the puttu kutti.
  7. Serve hot with banana or fish curry.
