  1. Rice Powder     2    cups
  2. Water     1    cup
  3. Salt     ½    tsp
  4. For Filling
    1. King Fish Egg(Neymeen Mutta)      300    g
    2. Onion  -chopped    1    no.
    3. Green Chillies  -chopped    5    nos.
    4. Ginger  Crushed    1    piece
    5. Garlic  Crushed    3    cloves
    6. Curry Leaves      1    stalk
    7. Turmeric Powder      ½    tsp
    8. Chilli Powder      1    tsp
    9. Coconut  grated    ½    cup
    10. Salt to taste      ½    tsp
    11. Oil      2    tbsp


  1. Clean and slice the king fish eggs.
  2. Heat oil in a non stick pan, add crushed ginger and garlic and saute well.
  3. Then add chopped onion,green chillies and curry leaves. Saute well till golden brown and fragrant.
  4. Then add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt. Mix well. Into this add grated coconut and fish egg and scramble it. When the fish egg is done turn off the stove and keep it aside.
  5. Take rice powder in a bowl, add salt and boiled water. Knead well and prepare the dough.
  6. Make large balls out of the prepared dough. Flatten it on the banana leaf using hand and spread the fish egg mixture.
  7. Fold the banana leaf with content and steam it in the iddly maker.
  8. Serve hot.
