  1. Basmati Rice     2    cup
  2. Cabbage finely chopped    2    cup
  3. Green Chillies -chopped    5    no.
  4. Onion     1    nos.
  5. Coconut Milk     1    cup
  6. Coriander Leaves -chopped    2    stalks
  7. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  8. Ginger     1    piece
  9. Garlic     7    cloves
  10. Cardamom Seeds (Elakka)     1    no.
  11. Cloves (Kariampo)     2    no.
  12. Roasted Cashew Nuts     10    g
  13. Oil     3    tbsp


  1. Grind garlic, ginger, clove and cardamom to fine paste. Keep it aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan, saute chopped cabbage and onion till golden brown over medium flame.
  3. Add ground paste, green chillies, coriander leaves and salt.Stir well and add coconut milk.
  4. Pour 3 cup of water and bring to a boil.
  5. Add the basmati rice and stir well.
  6. Cover the pan with a lid and cook till rice is done.
  7. Remove from the fire, add chopped coriander leaves and roasted cashew nuts. Serve it hot.
