  1. Grated Beetroot     1    nos.
  2. Basmati Rice     2    cups
  3. Onion     1    nos.
  4. Green chilli- garlic paste     1    tbsp
  5. Green Chillies     2    nos.
  6. Tomato     1    nos.
  7. Peas     ½    cup
  8. Cardamom Seeds (Elakka)     2    nos.
  9. Cloves (Kariampo)     2    nos.
  10. Cinnamon Pieces (Patta)     1    pieces
  11. Coriander Leaves     ½    cup
  12. Mint Leaves(Pudina)     ½    cup
  13. Cashew Nuts     10    g
  14. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  15. Ghee     2    tbsp


  1. Wash and soak basmati rice for some time. Drain and keep it aside.
  2. Heat ghee in a pan, add cardamom, cloves and cinnamon. Fry for a few minutes and then add chopped onions saute till onions become. Slightly golden brown.
  3. Add ginger garlic paste and split green chillies fry. Then add tomatoes, mint leaves, coriander leaves, grated beetroot,peas and salt. Saute till become soft. Keep it aside.
  4. Mean while pressure cook rice along with 4 cups of water for 1 whistles.
  5. When the rice is cooked, add it to the sauted mixture and mix well.
  6. Garnish with fried golden cashews and chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Serve hot.
