  1. Aval     2    cup
  2. Onion     2    no.
  3. Coriander Leaves -chopped    2    stalks
  4. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  5. Ginger     1    pieces
  6. Asafoetida     1    pinch
  7. Rice Powder     3    tbsp
  8. Green Chillies finely chopped    5    nos.
  9. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  10. Oil for frying    1    cup


  1. Soak aval for 15 minutes.
  2. After that drain the excess water from aval and lightly mash it with your hands or using a spatula.
  3. Now add all the remaining ingredients except oil.
  4. Make sure you don't add water into it.
  5. Make small round balls out of that mixture and flatten it using your hands.
  6. Now heat oil in a pan. Deep fry those vadas till it bacomes golden brown and crisp.
  7. Aval vada is ready.Serve it hot with chutney.
