  1. Potato     ½    Kg
  2. Oil     2    tbsp
  3. Mustard Seeds     1    tsp
  4. Onion Cut in to cubes    2    nos.
  5. Ginger     1    pieces
  6. Green Chillies Cut lengthwise    5    nos.
  7. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  8. Turmeric Powder     ½    tsp
  9. Kahsmiri chilli  Powder    1    tsp
  10. Coriander Powder     2    tbsp
  11. Garam Masala Powder    1    tsp
  12. Pepper Powder     ½    tsp
  13. Tomato -chopped    2    nos.
  14. Coriander Leaves -chopped    2    stalks
  15. Thick Coconut Milk     2    cups
  16. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Heat oil in a pan at medium heat.Splutter mustard seeds and add onion, green chilli, ginger, curry leaves and little salt.
  2. Saute until onion turns translucent. Bring down the heat to low. Add the chilly powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder mix well.
  3. Add potato cubes tomato and mix well. Stir everything for one minute.
  4. Add thin coconut milk, few springs of coriander leaves and enough salt. Bring to a boil.
  5. Cover and cook at medium- low heat until the potato cubes are done, about 15- 20 minutes.
  6. Open the lid and add thick coconut milk. Cook for a minute. Switch off. Sprinkle chopped coriander leaves.
  7. Serve it hot.
