  1. Padavalanga     ½    Kg
  2. Prawns     ½    Kg
  3. Grated Coconut     1    cup
  4. Green Chillies     5    nos.
  5. Small Onion / Shallot     5    nos.
  6. Red Chilli flakes     1    tsp
  7. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  8. Turmeric Powder     ¼    tsp
  9. Coconut Oil     2    tbsp
  10. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Peel the snake gourd ,wash and cut into small pieces. Clean the prawns and wash with water.
  2. Heat a pan, pour 4 tsp of oil, add chopped shallots, chopped green chillies and red chilly flakes and fry for 3 minutes.
  3. Add grated coconut and saute for 2 minutes. After 2 minutes add snake gourd pieces, prawns and salt and allow to cook on low flame with lid covered till the snake gourd pieces and prawns turn soft.
  4. After 10 minutes remove the lid and allow to cook on medium flame for about 5 minutes.
  5. Tasty snake gourd prawn thoran is ready to be served with hot rice.
