Aloo Vada

Ingredients: 

  1. Potato     1    Kg
  2. Onion     1    no.
  3. Green Chillies -chopped    7    nos.
  4. Cumin Seeds     ¼    tsp
  5. Ajwain     ¼    tsp
  6. Garlic -chopped    5    cloves
  7. Ginger -chopped    1    pieces
  8. Turmeric Powder     ¼    tsp
  9. Red Chilli Powder     ½    tsp
  10. Chaat Masala(Available in market) Powder    ½    tsp
  11. Gram Flour( Kadala Maavu)     2    cups
  12. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  13. Oil for frying    1    cup

Description:
 

  1. Boil potatoes into pressure cooker toll cooked thoroughly . Now peeled potatoes. Then mashed potatoes.
  2. Heat oil in pan, add chopped onion, green chillies, cumin seeds, ajwain seeds, ginger and garlic .Stir for 2 minutes or till onions are light brown.
  3. Then add tomato, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, chat masala powder and salt. Fry till the spices are well cooked as shown below.
  4. Now this cooked mixture add to mashed potatoes with the spice mixture.
  5. Make equal sized medium balls of the potato mixture. flatten them a little as it helps to deep fry them easily.
  6. Now take the gram flour, add salt and red chilli powder to it. With water make thick batter as shown below.
  7. Dip each potato ball in the gram flour batter.
  8. Heat oil in pan, add the potato balls coated with gram flour paste. Fry them till golden brown.
  9. Serve it hot. Aloo vadas are served with green chutney.
