  1. Dosa batter     2    cups
  2. Tapioca(Kappa)     ½    Kg
  3. Chemeen     ½    Kg
  4. Small Onion / Shallot     1    cup
  5. Crushed Ginger     1    pieces
  6. Crushed Garlic     5    cloves
  7. Turmeric Powder     ¼    tsp
  8. Red Chilli Powder     2    tsp
  9. Coriander Powder     ¼    tsp
  10. Garam Masala Powder    ½    tsp
  11. Pepper Powder     ½    tsp
  12. Coconut Oil     2    tbsp
  13. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  14. Ghee     2    tbsp


  1. Clean the impurities of kappa and peel the skin and dice into small pieces.
  2. Pour enough water to the cleaned tapioca, so that all the pieces will be immersed completely, cook uncoverd and allow to boil.
  3. When the water boils, remove and drain the water and again add the same amount of water, salt and pinch of turmeric powder and cook for 10-15 minutes or till it turns to very soft and tender.
  4. Remove from the fire. Drain the excess water and keep it aside. Heat oil in pan with coconut oil, add curry leaves crushed ginger, garlic saute till the aroma rise, now finely chopped shallots statue till it turns to translucent and light brown in color.
  5. Add prawns and salt to taste saute for couple of minutes. Add coriander powder, chilli powder, garam masala powder, pepper powder and stir till the aroma comes out.
  6. Smash the cooked kappa well and add it to the prawn mixtures and combine well. Remove from the fire.
  7. Heat the non stick tawa well. Pour a spoon full of batter in the centre of the pan,spread it into a round shape.
  8. Drizzle some ghee and when it gets cooked no need to flip just spread a ladle full of kappa chemmeen masala prepared in the middle.
  9. Fold the dosa into half, closing the masala filling and serve hot with chutney.
