  1. Vendakkai     ½    Kg
  2. Green Chillies     3    nos.
  3. Onion     2    no.
  4. Ginger paste    ½    tsp
  5. Chilli Powder     1    tsp
  6. Turmeric Powder     ½    tsp
  7. Coriander Powder     1    tbsp
  8. Tomato     1    nos.
  9. Pepper Powder     ¼    tsp
  10. Garam Masala Powder    ½    tsp
  11. Coconut Milk     1    cup
  12. Coconut Oil     2    tbsp
  13. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  14. Small Onion / Shallot     5    nos.
  15. Dried Red Chilli     2    nos.
  16. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  17. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Heat oil in pan, add chopped onion, vendakka and green chilles and saute.
  2. Add ginger garlic paste, chilly powder, coriander powder and required salt then saute this mixture.
  3. When it gets sauted and get brownish colour add the chopped tomato into it and saute for one more minute.
  4. Then add required water into it and cook by closing the lid. Steam it for 10 minutes. The add pepper powder and garam masala.
  5. Later and 1 cup of coconut milk and then boil it for five minutes.
  6. Then take another pan and heat the oil. Mustard seeds and allow to splutter. Then add silt dried chillies , small onion and curry leaves and saute for few minutes. Add this mixture into the curry and mix well.
  7. Vendakka Mappas is ready. Serve it hot.
