  1. Chena (Elephant Yam)     ½    Kg
  2. Turmeric Powder     ¼    tsp
  3. Masala Powder    ½    tsp
  4. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  5. Onion Crushed    1    nos.
  6. Crushed Garlic     2    tbsp
  7. Crushed Pepper     1    tsp
  8. Grated Coconut     ½    cup
  9. Oil     2    tbsp
  10. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  11. Dry Red Chillies     2    nos.
  12. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Take chena (Elephant Yam)and cut it into very thin pieces. Add little salt, turmeric powder into it and cook it.
  2. While cooking be careful it is not getting smashed. Crush the onion, garlic and pepper take a pan. add oil and heat. Add mustard seed, dried red chilly, curry leaves into it and roast.
  3. Later add the crushed mixture into it and mix and roast well.
  4. When the raw smell goes add turmeric powder, grated coconut and roast. After that add the cooked chena required salt, gram masala and mix. Keep the dish in the stove for 5 minutes more by closing the lid.
  5. Then open the lid and mix well. Make it to get dry. Chena Pepper Fry is ready. Serve it hot.
