Cauliflower Stew

  1. Cauliflower     1    Kg
  2. Potato     ½    Kg
  3. Ginger     1    pieces
  4. Green Chillies     7    nos.
  5. Onion     2    nos.
  6. Garlic     2    cloves
  7. Pepper Powder     ½    tsp
  8. First Coconut Milk     1    cup
  9. Second Coconut Milk     2    cup
  10. Cloves (Kariampo)     3    nos.
  11. Cardamom Seeds (Elakka)     3    nos.
  12. Cinnamon Pieces (Patta)     1    pieces
  13. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  14. Vinegar     1    tsp
  15. Corn Flour     1    tsp
  16. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  17. Oil     ¾    cup
  18. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Cut the cauliflower into small pieces. Dissolve the corn flour in mild hot water and marinate it in cauliflower pieces. Peel off the skin of potato and cut it into pieces.
  2. Cut the onion, ginger, green chillies into long pieces.Crush the garlic and pepper. Grate the coconut and take out one cup of first milk, and 2 cup of second milk and keep it aside.
  3. Also crush the cloves, cinnamon and cardamom.
  4. Heat oil in a pan , add mustard seeds, curry leaves and allow spluttering. Then add the crushed items and long sliced items into it and saute.
  5. After that you remove it from the oil and keep aside.In the same oil, add cauliflower and potato and saute.
  6. Then add half of vinegar,salt and second coconut milk into it.When the gravy gets thickened, add the first coconut milk and remove it from the stove.
  7. Cauliflower stew is ready. Serve this with appam or chappathi.
