Breadfruit Puzhukku

  1. BreadFruit     1    nos.
  2. Turmeric Powder     ¼    tsp
  3. Water     1    cup
  4. Grated Coconut     1    cups
  5. Cumin Seeds     1    pinch
  6. Garlic     2    cloves
  7. Green Chillies     3    nos.
  8. Turmeric Powder     ¼    tsp
  9. Coconut Oil     3    tsp
  10. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  11. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  12. Dried Red Chilli     2    nos.
  13. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Crush the grated coconut along with grated coconut , turmeric powder, cumin seeds, garlic and green chillies set aside.
  2. Combine the bread fruit, turmeric powder, water and salt in a gravy bottomed vessal.
  3. Cook covered for 15 minutes until soft and done mash using the back of a spoon Add the crushed coconut mixture .
  4. Cook for a few minutes until the raw taste of coconut is gone switch off .
  5. Heat oil in a pan splutter mustard seeds and fry dry red chillies and curry leaves . Pour over the prepared puzhukku.
  6. Serve immediately with chammanthi and rice.
