  1. Boneless Chicken     ½    Kg
  2. Grated Coconut     1    cups
  3. Pepper Powder     ½    tsp
  4. Masala Powder    ½    tsp
  5. Small Onion / Shallot -chopped    1    cup
  6. Green Chillies sliced    3    nos.
  7. Ginger sliced    1    pieces
  8. Garlic sliced    3    tsp
  9. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  10. Turmeric Powder     ¼    tsp
  11. Water     ½    cup
  12. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  13. Coconut Oil     2    tbsp


  1. Combine the grated coconut, gram masala powder and pepper powder in a bowl.
  2. In a manchatti, add the chicken pieces and chopped small onion, ginger, garlic , green chilies, curry leaves and turmeric powder . Mix well with your fingers.
  3. Add water and mix well.Cover and cook for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally until water is 75% evaporated and chicken pieces are done.
  4. Open and crush the chicken pieces slightly using the back of a spoon. Top it with the grated coconut mixture and a few curry leaves.
  5. Cover and cook for a few minutes. Mix well and switch off. Pour coconut oil over the prepared chicken peera. Cover with a lid and set aside for 15 minutes. Mix well.
  6. Chicken peera pattichathu is ready serve it hot.
