Green Apple Kichadi

  1. Green Apple - peel and cut into small pieces    2    nos.
  2. Green Chillies     3    nos.
  3. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  4. Water     ¼    cup
  5. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  6. Cumin Seeds     1    pinch
  7. Grated Coconut     1    cup
  8. Yoghurt     ½    cup
  9. Coconut Oil     2    tbsp
  10. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  11. Dry Red Chillies     2    nos.
  12. Curry Leaves     1    stalks


  1. Grind the grated coconut and cumin seeds to a very fine paste. In a small vessel or any pan, cook the ingredients 1- 5 for about 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground coconut paste mix well and cook for about 4-5 minutes, or until the raw taste of coconut is gone. Switch off add ¼ cup yogurt when it cools down mix well.
  3. Heat oil in a small pan. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dry red chillies and curry leaves.
  4. Pour over the prepared kichadi . Set aside for 10 minutes. Serve it.
