Papaya Kichadi

Ingredients: 

  1. Pappaya peeled grated    1    nos.
  2. Grated Coconut     1    cup
  3. Cumin Seeds     ½    tsp
  4. Crushed Mustard Seeds     ¼    tsp
  5. Green Chillies     3    nos.
  6. Turmeric Powder     1    pinch
  7. Yoghurt     1    cup
  8. Coconut Oil     2    tsp
  9. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  10. Dry Red Chillies     2    nos.
  11. Small Onion / Shallot Thinly sliced    1    nos.
  12. Water     ½    cup
  13. Salt to taste     ½    tsp

Description:
 

  1. Grind the grated coconut and cumin seeds to a fine paste. Add the crushed mustard seeds and mix well.
  2. Cook the ingredients numbered 1 for about 10 minutes until done. Add ground coconut mixture and cook for a few minutes.
  3. Heat coconut oil at medium high heat. Splutter mustard seeds and fry dry red chillies curry leaves and pearl onions.
  4. Fry until onion turns brown. Pour over the kichadi. Add yoghurt and mix well.
  5. Taste check for salt set aside for 30 minutes for the flavours to set. Serve it.
