Garlic Chutney

  1. Small Onion / Shallot     1    cup
  2. Garlic     10    cloves
  3. Red Chillies     7    nos.
  4. Tamarind Juice     2    tbsp
  5. Sesame Oil     1    tbsp
  6. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  7. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  8. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Peel the skin off garlic and shallots. Soak the tamarind in water for 10 minutes.
  2. Add the shallots, onion, red chilli, tamarind and salt into the mixie grind this into a fine paste.
  3. Transfer it to a bowl. In a small pan add sea same oil and add the mustard seeds. When it splutters, switch off the flame and add curry, leaves.
  4. Add it on the top of the chutney. Serve with dosa or idli.
