  1. Bittergourd/Kakarakaya  Finely Chopped     2    nos.
  2. Green Chillies     3    nos.
  3. Curry Leaves     1    stalks
  4. Yoghurt     1    cups
  5. Coconut Oil     2    tsp
  6. For Seasoning
    1. Coconut Oil      2    tbsp
    2. Mustard Seeds      ½    tsp
    3. Dried Red Chilli      2    nos.
    4. Curry Leaves      1    stalks
  7. Salt to taste     ½    tsp


  1. Heat about 2 tbsp oil in a pan and add the chopped bitter gourd few curry leaves, green chillies and salt.
  2. Saute till brown, take care not to burn it. It takes about 30 minutes. Switch off. When it is slightly cooled, stir in yogurt and mix well.
  3. In another pan heat 2 tsp oil and splutter the mustard seeds. Fry dry red chillies and curry leaves.
  4. Saute for a minute and pour this over the pavakka yogurt mixture and mix well. Serve with rice.
