Jackfruit Buns

  1. Ripe Jackfruit     20    cloves
  2. Maida     1    cups
  3. Sugar     ¾    cup
  4. Baking soda     ¼    tsp
  5. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  6. Curd     ½    cup
  7. Fennel Seeds(Perumjeerakam)     1    tsp
  8. Ghee     2    tbsp
  9. Oil For deep frying     1    cups


  1. Firstly grind or mash the jackfruit cloves. Now add in curd, sugar, baking soda, fennel seeds, salt and 1 tbs ghee.
  2. Combine everything well. Now slowly add in all purpose flour and combine without any lump. Add more flour if required as it may vary with the size of jackfruit cloves.
  3. Add remaining 1 tbs ghee and combine well. puris with rolling pin by dusting little flour or by using a chapatti press.
  4. Add the rolled dough ball into hot oil and cook till it puff up and turns slightly golden in both sides in medium low flame.
  5. Take out from oil and drain excess oil. Repeat the steps with remaining dough balls.
