  1. Small  Onion -sliced    200    g
  2. Grated Coconut     ½    cup
  3. Tamarind (Lemon size)    1    no.
  4. Red Chilli Powder     1    tsp
  5. Coriander Powder     2    tsp
  6. Cumin Seeds Powder     ½    tsp
  7. Pepper Powder     ½    tsp
  8. Turmeric Powder     ¼    tsp
  9. Asafoetida     1    pinch
  10. Fenugreek Seeds(Uluva) Powder    1    pinch
  11. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  12. Curry Leaves     3    stalks
  13. Red Chillies     2    nos.
  14. Sugar     1    pinch
  15. Oil     2    tbsp


  1. Soak tamarind in 1/2 cup of warm water and extract it.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the coconut well.
  3. Add chilly powder,coriander powder,cumin powder,pepper powder and turmeric powder.
  4. Stir it well and remove from fire.
  5. Allow it to cool and grind to a fine paste.
  6. Heat 2 tbsp of oil in a wok and splutter mustard seeds along with curry leaves and red chillies.
  7. Add small onions,asafoetida,salt and fenugreek powder into it.
  8. Fry it for few minutes.
  9. Add extracted tamarind into it and allow to boil.
  10. Add the above prepared paste and sugar into it. If it necessary add water.
  11. Cook it on a slow fire for 5 minutes.
  12. Switch off the stove and serve hot.
