Ingredients: 

  1. Basmati Rice     2    cups
  2. Medium sized Fish     10    nos.
    1. Chilli Powder      1    tsp
    2. Turmeric Powder      ¼    tsp
    3. Pepper Powder      ½    tsp
  3. Cinnamon Pieces (Patta)     1    piece
  4. Cloves (Kariampo)     6    nos.
  5. Cardamom Seeds (Elakka)     4    nos.
  6. Onion -chopped    4    nos.
  7. Tomato -chopped    2    nos.
  8. Ginger Garlic Paste     4    tsp
  9. Green Chillies -chopped    6    nos.
  10. Khus khus (Poppy Seeds) Powder    1    tsp
  11. Fennel Seeds(Perumjeerakam) Powder    ½    tsp
  12. Coriander Powder     3    tsp
  13. Kashmiri Chilli Powder     1    tsp
  14. Turmeric Powder     ½    tsp
  15. Garam Masala     1    tsp
  16. Yoghurt     ½    cup
  17. Lime Juice     3    tsp
  18. Coriander Leaves     2    stalks
  19. Pudina Leaves     1    stalks
  20. Ghee     2    tbsp
  21. Water     4    cups
  22. Roasted Onion     2    nos.
  23. Cashew Nuts     10    nos.
  24. Raisins (Unakka Munthiri)     3    tsp

Description:
 

  1. Mix together all the ingredients of no.3 and make a smooth paste adding little water and marinate the fish pieces for 30 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a pan and fry the marinated fish until they turn brown and crispy.Keep it aside.
  3. Heat 1 tbsp ghee in a pan and lightly fry the rice,cinnamon,cloves and cardamom for few minutes.
  4. Then add water,lime juice and salt .Mix it well.Cover and cook on a medium heat till done.Keep it aside.
  5. Heat ghee in another pan and fry the cashew nuts and raisins,remove and keep it aside.
  6. In the same pan add the onion and fry till golden brown.Add ginger-garlic paste and green chillies,fry it for 5-6 minutes.
  7. Mix yoghurt and saute it until oil separates.
  8. Add the ingredients from no.10 to 16 and salt,stir it well.And add chopped tomatoes.Cook until tomatoes turn soft.
  9. Add fried fish pieces.Mix it well and cook for 20-30 minutes over low heat.
  10. Finally add chopped coriander and pudina leaves,cook for 5 more minutes and remove from fire.
  11. Layer the rice and fish pieces in a baking dish.Spread crispy onion slices,cashew nuts and raisins on top .
  12. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes in preheated oven.
  13. Serve it with best combinations.
