  1. Rice     2    cup
  2. Coconut Milk     1    litre
  3. Yeast     2    tsp
  4. Sugar     4    tbsp
  5. Cardamom(Elakka) Powder     ½    tsp
  6. Cashew Nuts     ¼    cup
  7. Raisins (Unakka Munthiri)     ¼    cup


  1. Wash and soak rice for 6 hours.
  2. Dissolve the yeast in some warm water.
  3. Grind the rice along with coconut milk and dissolved yeast,sugar and salt.
  4. the batter should not be very watery,it has to be in the consistency of idly batter.
  5. Keep it for 3 hours until it ferments. There will be bubbles on the surface and the batter will have risen.Stir well.
  6. Check for the sugar and also add cardamom powder.Gently stir it and keep it aside.
  7. Grease a flat pan or idly mould with little oil and pour the batter .
  8. Garnish with cashews and raisins.
  9. Cover tightly and steam for 15 to 20 minutes.
  10. Cut into diamond shapes and serve.
