  1. Cabbage -chopped fine    3    cup
  2. Toor Dal     ½    cup
  3. Grinded Coconut     1    cup
  4. Turmeric Powder     1    pinch
  5. Small Onion / Shallot     2    nos.
  6. Garlic     2    cloves
  7. Dry Red Chillies     6    nos.
  8. Mustard Seeds     ½    tsp
  9. Curry Leaves     2    stalks
  10. Ginger     1    pieces
  11. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  12. Oil     2    tsp


  1. Pressure cook the dal, cabbage,salt with a pinch of turmeric powder.Adding enough water.
  2. Crush the coconut with small onion, garlic,ginger and red chillies.
  3. Heat oil in a pan add mustard seeds and allow to splutter,along with the crushed items.
  4. Stir it well and cook it for 2 minutes.
  5. Slightly mash the dal-cabbage mixture with the back of a spoon.
  6. Add dal-cabbage mixture and salt.Mix it well.
  7. Cook it for about 5 minutes.
  8. Remove from the fire and serve it hot.
