  1. Cucumber -Cut into small pieces    1    cup
  2. Toor Dal     ¼    cup
  3. Chilli Powder     1    tsp
  4. Turmeric Powder     ½    tsp
  5. Mustard Seeds     1    tsp
  6. Dry Red Chillies     3    nos.
  7. Curry Leaves     2    stalks
  8. Salt to taste     ½    tsp
  9. Grind to paste
    1. Grated Coconut      1    cup
    2. Cumin Seeds      1    pinch
    3. Small Onion / Shallot      3    nos.


  1. Grind the above ingredients into a fine paste.
  2. Cook the toor dal in pressure cooker with enough water.
  3. Add cucumber,chilly powder,turmeric powder and salt.Cook it till soft.
  4. Add the coconut paste and allow it to boil.
  5. Heat oil in a pan,splutter mustard seeds and allow to splutter along with curry leaves and dry red chillies.
  6. Pour over the curry and serve it hot
