  1. Rice     2    cups
  2. Onion -chopped    3    nos.
  3. Ghee     1    tbsp
    1. Coriander Leaves      2    stalk
    2. Green Chillies      2    nos.
    3. Dry Red Chillies      2    nos.
    4. Peppercorns      2    nos.
  4. Mustard Seeds     ¼    tsp
  5. Urad Dal(Uzhunnuparippu)     1    tsp
  6. Cumin Seeds     1    tsp
  7. Oil     1    tbsp


  1. Cook the rice with enough water and keep it aside.
  2. Grind all the ingredients in no:5 and make a paste. Keep it aside.
  3. Heat oil in a pan and splutter the mustard seeds. Add black gram and cumin seeds and stir until its brown.
  4. Add onions and fry over a medium flame.
  5. Add the blended paste and salt and stir for 2 minutes.
  6. Add the cooked rice and ghee. Mix it well.
  7. 'Kothamalli Saadham' is ready to serve.
