  1. Milk     4½    cups
  2. Rose Essence     1    drops
  3. Saffron     1    pinch
  4. Sugar     6    tbsp
  5. Rice (Soaked in water for half an hour)     5    tbsp
  6. Cardamom(Elakka) Powder     ½    tsp
  7. Almonds -chopped    4    nos.


  1. Heat the milk in a heavy-duty pan about 10 minutes.
  2. Soak the rice in about 1/4 cup water for an hour.
  3. Blend the rice with the water in a mixer to make the rice milk.
  4. Slowly add the rice milk to the milk and cook for 15 minutes on low flame.Stir continuously.
  5. Add the sugar, caradamom powder and saffron. Cook for 2 minutes ,till the sugar dissolve.
  6. Remove from the heat and cool for 30 minutes and then add the essence.
  7. Refrigerate it for 3 hours.Garnish with the chopped almonds.
  8. Serve it chilled.
